Germany retain their title, whilst Switzerland win silver in front of their home crowd
The 2026 Women’s European Fistball Championship in Reiden has come to a successful conclusion. Over two days of competition, spectators at the Kleinfeld sports complex enjoyed top-class fistball, exciting matches and a fantastic atmosphere.
On Saturday, around 1,900 fans attended the decisive matches in Reiden. The Swiss national team in particular received outstanding support, with numerous Swiss flags and loud cheering from the stands creating an impressive setting.
Alongside Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Serbia and Namibia took part in the tournament. The Swiss team delivered a strong performance in the preliminary round, defeating Namibia, Austria and Serbia. Their only loss came against eventual European champions Germany.
In the semi-final, Switzerland faced Austria once again. In a dramatic five-set match, the Swiss team secured a 3–2 victory and qualified for a European Championship final for the first time since 2019.
Germany awaited them in the final. Switzerland put up a strong fight but was ultimately defeated 3–0 by the defending champions. Germany successfully retained the European title, while Switzerland earned a well-deserved silver medal. Austria claimed bronze.
